The British racing driver’s 11 race wins last season and endorsement of several brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Puma saw him make $70 M on the field and $12 M off it.

7. Roger Federer

The tennis superstar was out of action for most of 2020 due to a knee injury. He made most of his money - $90 M, off the field from sponsorships. From the game he made only $0.03 M. Rolex and Credit Suisse are among the many brands endorsed by Federer.

With nearly 280 million followers across his social media accounts, Neymar, who endorses Puma among other brands, earned $19 M off the field and $76 M on it.

The 36-year-old, who is unstoppable on the basketball court, will be making his Hollywood debut in July with the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy. The brand face of PepsiCo, James earned $31.5 M on the field and $65 M off it.

4. Dak Prescott

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is the fourth highest-paid athlete in the world. He signed a four-year, $160 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys in March, including a $66 million signing bonus. Overall, the 27-year-old made $97.5 M as an athlete and $10 M as a brand ambassador and investor.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo

The 36-year-old Portuguese football star, who became the first person in the world to reach 500 million followers across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter in February, earned $50 M from Nike and other brands he endorses. From playing football, Ronaldo earned $70 M, which includes his four-year contract worth $64 million that expires in 2022.

One of the biggest names in the world of sports, the details of Messi’s four-year contract with Barcelona were leaked last year, which claimed that the 33-year-old makes $672 M from the team. Messi earned $97 M on the field last year and $33 M off it. He endorses Adidas among other brands.

Irish Mixed Martial Arts fighter Conor McGregor has been crowned the world's highest-paid athlete for the first time in his career. McGregor earned about $22 million from his win over Donald Cerrone, which was also the only bout he fought last year. $158 million of the 32-year-old’s earnings last year came from brand endorsements, while $22 M came from his only fight of 2020.
